Traffic in and Around the College

RE: Traffic in and Around the College

The College has kept parents informed about traffic conditions around the College and the feedback we have received from our neighbours. This week, we received two separate pieces of feedback; one from an Early Learning Centre parent and another from the Chairperson of Breanne Estate, who is also a resident living just outside the College.

The following table shows the starting and ending time of the Early Learning Centre:

ELC parents often struggle to find parking when dropping off or collecting their children. To help address this, we will reserve ten 5-minute parking spaces (shown in red) for quick drop-off and pick-up between 8.45 am and 9.15 am, and between 2.15 pm and 3.45 pm on school days.

These spaces are not intended for parents with children in both the ELC and Primary/Secondary, as the time limit is too short. We have also provided 18 additional staff parking spaces at the rear of the College. Appropriate action will be taken in cases of non-compliance.

Our immediate neighbours are comfortable with parents parking in front of their properties, provided driveway access is not blocked. Unfortunately, some parents have not complied and have refused to move their vehicles while waiting for their children. Some have also parked in visitors’ spaces despite clear signage indicating that the area is private property. I have sought Ps. Richard, our founding pastor, to support the College in monitoring the situation at Breanne Place.

This morning, I observed traffic conditions during drop-off time. Traffic became particularly busy from 8.45 am, largely because some drivers were reluctant to turn left at the end of Breanne Place. During school drop-off and pick-up, I kindly ask for your cooperation in

turning left unless there is a clear opportunity to turn right without delaying vehicles behind you. If you are unable to turn right within 5 seconds, please turn left and make a U-turn at the nearby roundabout. Do help to pass on this message to relatives and friends who are picking-up and dropping-off your child.

We need to continue working together to ensure no one is disadvantaged as we build a strong and cohesive community. If

these concerns are not addressed, the local council may become involved in reviewing our suitability to operate as a school.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and will help us continue providing quality education and care for your family.

Blessings,

Wing Leong

College Principal
