Working Bee and Farewell to Teachers

'Still other seed fell on good soil' - Mark 4:8

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Season Greetings

As we approach the joyous season of Christmas, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support throughout this year. Your dedication to our school community has been truly inspiring, and it is with deep appreciation that I reflect on the many ways you have contributed to the growth and success of our students.

This year has been filled with numerous challenges and triumphs, and through it all, your commitment to our shared mission has remained steadfast. Whether it was through volunteering your time, participating in school events, or supporting your children in their academic and spiritual journeys, your involvement has made a significant impact. It is this partnership between home and school that fosters a nurturing environment where our students can thrive.

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas. It is a time of love, hope, and joy, and a reminder of the blessings we have received. I encourage you to take this opportunity to cherish moments with your loved ones, reflect on the past year, and look forward to the new year with renewed faith and optimism.

May the peace and joy of Christmas fill your hearts and homes. I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May God’s grace continue to guide and protect our school community, and may we enter the new year with a spirit of unity and purpose.

Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the coming year.

Working Bee (Parent Involvement Programme)

The Lighthouse Christian College Parent Involvement Program has been introduced to encourage parents to become involved in the life of the college and to help build the Lighthouse community. Families can either pay the levy or volunteer their time at designated working bees or community events.

Volunteers assist for 2 hours with essential tasks such as grounds maintenance, classroom setups, or event preparation and delivery, building stronger connections within the school. These events include the Twilight Fair, our yearly School Production and working bees to help maintain and improve the college’s grounds and learning spaces. Families opting out of participation pay the levy to support these efforts. This system promotes fairness and shared responsibility in maintaining our college environment for everyone’s benefit.

The $100 levy will be credited to your account upon completion of your working bee or community event. You can sign up for the Working Bee using the link given.

School Council and Parents & Friends members are exempt because they volunteer more time than required for Working Bee activities. If you are interested in joining the Parents & Friends group, please click on this link to do so.

Farewell to Teachers

On the behalf of the College, we are very thankful and appreciative to the following teachers - Mrs. Shivani Dutta, Mrs. Zelda Dempers,

Mrs. Fiona Porter, Ms. Jennifer Suh and Mrs. Dinesha De Silva who have contributed greatly to the organisation.

I would like to extend my best wishes for a fulfilling retirement to Mrs. Christine Kwok, Mrs. Jean Hereford, and Mrs. Gretchen Fourie. I am certain the Lord will continue to use these staff members in different ministries in the future. Mrs. Alice Yang, our Director of Teaching and Learning (Primary), will be going on parental leave, and Mrs. Matilda Tan will be covering her duties in her absence.

Wishing everyone a safe and

peaceful Christmas!

Blessings,

Wing Leong

College Principal
